Blue & pink swirls!

Hey lovers! Long time no see! I'm back from a brief hiatus due to a combination of busy-ness and extreme laziness (let's face it, I could have posted SOMETHING over the weekend when I was watching Breaking Bad for six hours straight but I couldn't pull myself away). Anyway, like I said on the ol' Tumblr, expect to see more of me this week because I have lots to show you guys. Let's start with these babies I did last night!

I hit up Ulta yesterday after work for their BOGO sale on butter LONDON and picked up my first two BL polishes I've been lemming basically forever. Of course I couldn't wait to use one of them, so I picked this amazing, saturated, jewel-like blue that is butter LONDON - Blagger. The formula is impeccable, the color is beautiful, and all in all I'm pretty pleased with this defeated lemming.

The berry shade is Zoya - Reagan, part of Zoya's summer 2012 line. I picked Reagan up as part of my Zoya order I placed during THEIR awesome BOGO sale because I've been wanting her for months. I'm fairly certain she is a dupe for OPI Dim Sum Plum AND OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries, so that's 2 OPIs off my wish list too :)

The formula of Reagan, like all of my Zoyas, was a perfect buttery smooth 2-coater. My love for Zoya just keeps growing and growing. I'm finding it hard to contain it, honestly.

The pattern is something that just happened when I started painting. These are (I think) the third set of nails I've done using patterns I doodle all the time, the first set being these neon eye burners and the second being the accidental triangle nail art I did more recently. It's fun doing nails based on patterns I've been doing forever because my hands sort of just do their thing and I don't have to think about it much.

I really can't get enough of blue and pink together (as I'm sure you guys all know) and while usually I prefer to combine my blues and pinks in neon form, I think these pretty, jewel-tone colors are a nice transition to fall (which just started happening here in Georgia... the days are still 80 degrees but the nights are nice and cool!)

Don't be alarmed, though, you guys. I'm still going to use neons whenever I feel like it (aka 75% of all my manicures). All fall, all winter, all spring. I just can't bear to rule them out because it's not summer anymore.

Anyway, that's all for today! I'm pretty pleased with these nails and hope you guys like them too. See y'all again soon!

  6. These are very Dr. Seuss-y! Also love the color combo. Did you just use a small brush to do this or what?

    1. Omg I love that you said that because I thought that too after I finished them. Especially the pointer finger, there's something about that one that looks especially Seuss-y. I just used my one true love of nail art, my trusty medium length skinny striper brush!

  7. Those are super cool! You have always such interesting color combinations, and most of the time I wouldn't have used them myself, so it's really nice to see someone innovate :)
