Hey everybunny! Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, I've been busy at work and busy after work getting ready for a festival I'm going to this weekend so unfortunately my blogging has fallen by the wayside :( I'm hoping to get another post or two up this week before I leave, though, and to resume semi-regular posting again next week!
What have you guys been up to? Me, I've just been, I don't know, painting sunshines puking rainbows and rainclouds puking lightning bolts on my nails.
I had the idea for these nails a few weeks ago but every time I decided to do them it felt like too much work, or I had something else I wanted to do more, or I just couldn't decide whether to do sunshines and rainclouds all one one hand or do all sunshines or all rainclouds or I don't know this is why I'm crazy.
Finally last night I was like okay dummy you're really excited about this idea so just do it already. So I just did it. And I'm really pumped that I did because I think they are so funny. I giggle every time I look at them. Look how happy those sunshines are to be puking rainbows.
The background of the sunshine nails is Zoya Robyn, probably my favorite blue polish I own and one of my favorite polishes in general. It's gorgeous and saturated and perfect and lovely and just such a pretty shade of blue. The sunshines are China Glaze Happy Go Lucky and the rainbow is (from red to purple) OPI Red Lights Ahead, Where?, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sun Kissed, China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, Essie Mojito Madness, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue, and OPI Funky Dunkey.
These nails actually weren't as difficult as I thought they would be and they wouldn't have even been very time-consuming except for the fact that I had to do 3 coats of Happy Go Lucky for the sunshines and they got all lumpy and gloppy and I had to spend a lot of time smoothing them out/making them opaque. The rainbows were also a little tricky and time-consuming, partially due to all the bottles I had to open, haha! I freehanded everything on my left hand with my mid-length striper brush.
Luckily the design I have on righty here was much easier to accomplish with my non-dominant painting hand!
I painted the base color (Zoya Kristen, I bet you guys can guess that I love this polish/color/formula since it's a Zoya and I love ALL ZOYAS), then used a really small square-ish brush to sort of dab on the cloudy shapes using Essence Movie Star. After that had dried I used the same brush to dab on China Glaze Pelican Gray kind of haphazardly to add some depth to the clouds.
I used my mid-length striper to paint the faces, lightning bolt and rain drops. The drops are China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le. LOOK AT THOSE ANGRY STORM CLOUD FACES LOL.
SO ANGRY. LIGHTNING BOLT PUKE.
Here is a special bonus shot of my thumbs together so you can fully appreciate the dichotomy of this weather vomit.
Okay. Phew! That was a big post. What do you guys think of these nails? Do they make you giggle too?
