OPI Metallic 4 Life + art deco-y accents

Hay y'all! How was everyone's long weekend? Mine was SO nice, I got to hang out with friends, spend a lot of time with my boyfriend, go to the pool, hang out with my family and have a big bonfire in my backyard... oh and do SIX LOADS OF LAUNDRY since our washer was broken for 2 weeks. And watch a whooole lotta Breaking Bad.

I also did these nails last night and honestly I can't figure out if I like them or not so I will let you guys help me decide!

I got a sudden urge to pull out OPI - Metallic 4 Life, a color I loved when I first got it but haven't used in a while. It's still awesome, for anyone who wondered. It's a little thick but so full of glitter that's to be expected and it's not so thick that it's a huge pain to work with. It's also a 2-coater, which is awesome considering the black base is pretty sheer after one coat. I think it looks like extra-sparkly asphalt.

I knew I wanted to do a pattern on top (somewhat like these nails I did months ago) but I didn't really know what. I picked out the other 2 colors pretty quickly and then just started painting. The green is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Green With Envy, and the lilac is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Lacey Lilac. Both of these colors are really nice for nail art, they are soft and pastel-y but nice and opaque. Lovin it.

I don't really know where this design came from, it just started becoming a thing so I let it happen. I really can't decide if I like them or not. Sometimes I glance at them and I'm like yeah girl! Sweet nails! But then other times I'm looking at them and I'm all >_< I JUST WANNA TAKE THESE OFF. My dad loved them when he saw them, he said they look like art deco buildings and after Google imaging that I have to agree with him. It makes me like them a little more because he likes them :)

I definitely like these colors together, though. I think I may have been happier with these nails if I had left the design off at the first layer and not added the second row of lines (if that makes sense). I very rarely manage to adhere to the "less-is-more" principle when I'm painting my nails.

Here is a bonus swatch shot of Metallic 4 Life! Look how great this polish is. So great. Really really great (for real though I really do like it a lot).

Alrighty, that's all for today! What do y'all think of these nails? I'd love to get other opinions! I'll probably be back sooner rather than later since these are definitely coming off tonight one way or the other. :)

  2. I understand that you're doubting I also have this feeling on my nails right now.. with Metallic 4 Life too! And I really like it a lot too, so classy and sparkly without being TOO blingy. Maybe this polish always works best with "less is more"? I remember I did some gold letters on top of it and it was really cool tough
I really like your pattern so be proud of your mani! ;)

    1. Thank you! I know, I loove this color on its own - had to leave one hand plain so I could just look at it!
