To make the patterns I just taped them off with the striping tape, applied 1 thick coat of the coppery sparkly awesomeness that is China Glaze I Herd That, then removed the tape while the polish was still wet. After all my nails were done I used 2 thick coats of Seche Vite on top since the stripes were super textured and I Herd That is also something of a topcoat-eater.
I've always read how striping tape is sooo easy to use and such a breeze and whatnot but I struggled with it on some of these patterns! The pattern on my pointer finger especially was quite a challenge. I think I spent like 20 minutes applying the tape for that one and I was pretty frustrated by the time I finished but I think it looks really cool!
After I'd done the first few nails I was definitely starting to get the hang of it. The really nice part about it to me was that since all my nails were already dry and this glitter dries super fast too, I could do one nail and then take a break and eat or watch tv or whatever and then do the next nail. I even did my right hand too! I don't like the patterns on this one quite as much as my left hand but I think they look pretty cool together :)
My favorite designs are the ones on the ring finger and pinkie of my left hand. I'm so happy with how those came out! I replicated the pinkie design on the pointer finger of my right hand but I didn't get it centered as well. Still not bad for my non-dominant hand, though. I actually really liked using the striping tape with my non-dominant hand because while it was a bit of a struggle, it was nice because if I got it wrong I could pick it up and reposition it rather than leaving it imperfect.
Here's a BONUS SWATCH of Prey Tell for you guys. Just... I can't with this polish. Look how pretty and vampy and shiny and amazing it is. Don't you want to just fall into it? It's just so RICH-looking. It's so shiny you can almost see my reflection in it taking the pictures!
Okay, that's all I have for you guys today! I'm definitely going to finish out this week with some more designs using On Safari colors so stay tuned for that. What do you guys think of these? Have you ever used striping tape before? Do you get as pumped about how clean and perfect the designs look as I did?
