If you follow me on tumblr you saw the picture I posted of my haul at Sally Beauty's 50% off clearance sale on Friday. I loooove finding good deals on polish and I'm proud of my bargain hunting abilities generally, but this was above and beyond an awesome bargain haul - $150 worth of polish for $40! The best part was that I got the entire China Glaze On Safari collection, which I wanted pretty hard. So now basically I'm in love with the whole collection and it's probably all I'm going to use for the next little while so just bear with me while I work through this phase.
These nails are based on this image from Shutterstock (INTERJECTION: Shutterstock is seriously the best website I've found for nail inspiration. You guys should try it out if you haven't already). I obviously changed the colors so I could use my now-beloved fall colors.
The colors are China Glaze Purr-fect Plum, Exotic Encounters (dark teal), Man Hunt (blue), and Kalahari Kiss (beige). They're all (of course) from the On Safari collection. I am deeply in love with all of them.
This design ended up taking me over an hour on my left hand and I started my nails too close to bedtime so my right hand is a simpler design! I actually really like this hand too. The design took about 30 seconds per finger but I think it looks pretty cool, especially with all the different color combos. The glitter on my thumb and on the lines is China Glaze I'm Not Lion, a little bit of holographic sparkly AWESOMENESS added to this mani.
Also, I'd like to note that my pictures look different from usual... I took so many in natural light (which is usually what I use) but because it's cloudy today there was a terrible reflection on all my nails and the pattern wasn't nearly visible enough. So I tried some using flash and I really liked how it made the pattern and the colors pop. I may start using flash more from time to time... although I hate using it for regular pictures I kind of like how it makes nail art look!
Okay, wow! This was a wordy post. I've missed blogging, you guys! What do you think of these nails? Do you have any colors from the On Safari collection? Are you as madly in love with them as I am?

I love your new nail shape! The On Safari Collection is my favorite Fall collection in a long time. I don't own the entire collection though - which I'm now thinking I should. Love the designs you came up with!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I broke the nail on my middle finger clean off just over a week ago and I was really sad at first but I'm kinda diggin on my little square nubbies now. I think you should own the whole collection too! I didn't think I wanted the whole thing but then as soon as the weather cooled off I wanted them ALL haha.
Deletelove this! and btw you have the captcha on
ReplyDeletethank you! and omg THANK YOU, I didn't realize it was turned on by default I guess and I hate commenting when captcha is on so I'm glad you told me... turned that off immediately!
DeleteWow, this pattern is seriously so cool and your pics came out nice! :) Surprisingly I haven't bought any of the On Safari polishes though I was really close to picking up Kalahari Kiss.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :) I was kind of wary of using flash instead of natural light but I like how they look I think. The only problem is that the flash really highlights every tiny mistake haha... the mistakes aren't nearly so visible IRL. Kalahari Kiss is one of my favorites from the collection, I definitely recommend it!
DeleteWow, it's so amazing that you did all that freehand! I only got Exotic Encounters from the collection, but now the cooler weather is making me want more of them...
ReplyDeleteThank you! Exotic Encounters is definitely one of my favorites and it was the first one I wanted when I saw swatches. I was the same way though - I only wanted a few of them and then the first day the weather got cooler I suddenly wanted ALL OF THE FALL COLORS.
DeleteThat's totally kickass! Love it
ReplyDeletethanks girl!
DeleteIt's like little quilts on your nails--love it!
