Hi guys! Happy FRIDAY! Today I have something a little different to show y'all. I painted my first ever set of false nails last night to send to Brass, who's making a nail art documentary called NAILgasm and has had a bunch of nail artists paint tip sets to shoot for the film. I'm REALLY excited to be involved in this and I'm happy with how my set came out! I basically just tried to do a set that represented all of my personal favorite things about nail art.
Everything was done freehand except for the thumb nails. For those I freehanded the colored stripes and then used striping tape to create the glitter striped overlay. For the color block diamond nails I painted 1/4 of each nail in one color and then painted triangles over the blocks in corresponding colors. The pinkie sized nails were striped with a striping brush and then I used a sponge to do the glitter gradient - I usually use chunkier glitter, which can be gradated easily with the polish brush, but for fine glitter like this I thought it would look better if I sponged it on. I like the way it turned out! The shooting stars and irregular chevrons were all just done with my striping brush as well!
Since I was trying to sort of represent my "style" of nail art, I used five of my favorite colors ever for these nails. The blue is Zoya Breezi, which I have used in about one hundred other designs. The green is Essie Mojito Madness, the purple is Essie Play Date, and the vibrant pink is Zoya Reagan, which isn't quite as red-toned in real life as this picture makes it look. The glitter is, of course, China Glaze I'm Not Lion.
I am very excited to be included in this project and I'm so happy with how these nails came out. I spent about 3.5 hours on them so I'm glad I like the outcome, haha! What do you guys think of them? Have you heard of the documentary before now? I think it's such a cool idea and I can't wait to see it!
