Geometric Challenge day 1 - square!

Hey lovers, happy Friday! I've been so busy this week I haven't had any time for blogging but hopefully next week will be better. And I have some nails to show y'all today!

A month or so ago Stephanie from Sincerely Stephanie emailed me and a few other bloggers and asked if we'd like to be part of a nail challenge she created - the Geometric Challenge! I immediately said YES because as I'm sure you guys have guessed, geometric patterns are my favorite thing to paint. Sooo I'm going to be posting a design every three days for the month of February based on these prompts!

The first day is Square and to fit that theme I did this design (not my most eloquent sentence ever but oh well, ON TO THE NAILS!)

These were inspired by this image:

I had a couple ideas for square patterns but then I decided to Google around to see if I could find something I liked better. I saw this and immediately decided to do it. I don't know why but I just really loved the idea of putting this pattern and color scheme on my nails! For some reason I've also been wanting to paint my nails yellow for weeks and just hadn't ever gotten around to it, so that made me extra excited about doing this design.

I started with a base of three coats of China Glaze Lemon Fizz, a super pretty pastel yellow that I don't use often enough. Then using my mid-length striper brush I painted on the blue squares using Zoya Robyn. It's not the exact color of the blue in the image but I didn't have a bright turquoise like that, much to my dismay. This situation clearly needs to be remedied immediately by buying more nail polish!

After the blue squares, I used the same striper brush to paint on the brown square and rectangle outlines using China Glaze Call of the Wild.

I've been doing skittles and other random patterns so often lately that I forgot how much I love having the same pattern on all 10 nails! I just love the way that looks for some reason.

What do you guys think of these? Do you think they fit the theme well? Do you like painting geometrics on your nails as much as I do? I HOPE SO. Have a great weekend everyone!
