Hey lovahs! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! Mine was not NEARLY long enough or filled with enough "doing nothing" but it was great nonetheless. And today is day 9 of the geometric challenge - mix and match!
I decided to combine triangle and 3D to make these studded chevron nails!
Funny story: the design I originally had in mind for this day was the same as this, but my original idea was to make the chevrons extend to the cuticle. Then right before I got started on my nails, my sister Summer sent me a picture of her nails she had just done and it was the same chevron pattern I was thinking of, but the chevron points were at mid-nail instead of at the cuticle. I liked hers better so I decided to copy her!
The only difference between mine and hers was that hers were all the same colors and I decided I needed to use ALL THE PASTELS for mine. Because I don't at all know how to keep it simple. Y'all that follow me on Instagram saw my Sinful Colors haul during the Walgreens sale a few days ago, which included the whole spring collection plus a couple others. These were done using all Sinful Colors polishes: Orange Cream, Easy Going, Candy Coated, Sweet Tooth, Sugar Rush, Unicorn, Mint Apple, Sweet Nothing, and Cotton Candy.
I seriously adore all of these colors! I have SUCH a soft spot for pastels, and I really can't control myself when it comes to spring collections. The best thing is that several of these colors have a gorgeous little hidden shimmer in them - you can't really see it in the bottle but once it's on the nail it comes out and is sooo pretty.
To make this design I just painted on my base colors and then used my mid-length striper brush to freehand and fill in the chevrons. Then while the chevron polish was still wet I placed 2mm gold studs from Born Pretty Store at the base of each one. I think the studs are what really make these interesting for me - they looked a little boring without them, but the studs really tied them together.
Look, I'm learning how to take pictures of both hands at once! I loved the color combos of all my nails because they were all different, so I thought they deserved a picture all together.
That's all I have for y'all today! What do you think of these? Do you like studs and pastels as much as I do? I CAN'T GET ENOUGH.
Don't forget to stop by and see what my challenge buddies have for today!
