Anyway, today is the FINAL DAY of the Geometric Challenge - recreate!
Pretty much as soon as I saw this mani that Stephanie from Sincerely Stephanie did, I knew it was the one I wanted to recreate. Before I actually did them, I browsed through all the other awesome manis that my challenge buddies did and I pretty much wanted to recreate all of them haha... but this one was just calling my name!
Sooo first of all (as I'm sure you noticed) my nails are round now! WOO ROUND NAILS! I've been wanting to make the switch for a while now but was nervous about it and also my sister forbade me to do it haha. But last night we both decided we'd go round and man... as much as I have grown to love my square nails, I am sooo happy they're round again! For now anyway, of course.
I started these with 3 coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, which I REALLY wish I had gotten a backup of because I use it constantly. On my pointer fingers I started with 2 coats of American Apparel Hassid because I gotta have dat accent nail.
After my base colors were down I used my tiny cut-down detailing brush to paint on the patterns using the same black & white polishes. I made the triangles bigger on my thumb and ring fingers because DAT ACCENT NAIL. Then using the same brush and Zoya Ziv I added gold details to each nail. Finally, I went back over the lines around the gold parts so they'd be nice and crisp.
I thought about doing a color scheme other than black and white, but since I always love black and white nails when I do them and I hardly ever actually DO them, I thought it'd be fun to stick with Stephanie's original color scheme. She said in her blog post that adding the gold really took it to another level and I have to agree - I already really liked them but when I added the gold I was like O_O <333
I'm also FINALLY starting to get better at painting with my non-dominant hand! I'm really proud of the way both hands turned out for this mani. I did a design similar to this a few months ago and I remember it taking me longer than this design took, and this was definitely more complicated! This challenge has also really helped me improve my speed with both hands, which was something I really needed to work on haha.
That's all I have for you guys today! I love these nails SO HARD and they're so fun to look at. I think they almost look like nail wraps! What do you guys think of these?
Also, I can't believe the geometric challenge is over! It's been really fun and definitely a challenge. I'm pretty happy with the designs I came up with and my improvement in speed. Don't forget to check out the other ladies' final designs!

Amazing job! I love this :) I like rounded nails too but I am interested in what made you change? Personally, I briefly tried making my tips squared but didn't like the feel of the edges so I soon changed back lol.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing and I might use this as inspiration for a challenge I am participating in!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! You did a fabulous job keeping them consistent between your dominant and non-dominant hand as well :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I use it constantly and I'm finally having to admit that I need to buy a backup. Eek!
