Hi lovers, welcome to another installment of the Digit-al Dozen! I missed last month's theme because I was in Europe, but now I'm back on it! This week's theme is BLING, which I am obviously super excited about given my love of glitter and rhinestones and all things sparkly and ostentatious.
I figured I'd start off with a bang and use all of the rhinestones. All of them. In a rhinestone gradient!
As a brief aside before we begin, I'd like to mention the reasons that I went round again: one, my sister Summer (aka my nail sensei) went round again and I always want to do everything she does; and two, the stupid corners of my square nails kept breaking like every five seconds and I was really tired of my nails being uneven. So round I went! I am sooo happy with this shape, I feel like when I've gone round in the past I've struggled to find a shape I really like and to get all my nails even but I didn't really have that problem this time.
Anyway, MOVING ON. This mani started with a base of Maybelline Canary Cool, which is part of the LE summer collection I found at Walmart in Eufaula, AL on the way back from my boyfriend's grandparents' house on Sunday. I got three colors from the collection and they're all wonderful, so I'm going to do a swatch post of those and talk about them more in-depth in a week or so. Spoiler alert, I am IN LOVE with this color.
After my base was down I put a layer of clear polish on my middle fingernail and stuck the rhinestones (from MASH Nails) on in a gradient formation. I used to use a rhinestone picker-upper that I got at Sally, but I broke it, so now I just lick the pointy end of an orange stick and use that to pick the rhinestones up. It works fine.
When my middle fingernail was done, I put a strip of clear polish down my pointer finger and stuck one line of gradating rhinestones down the middle of it. I repeated this process with my other nails and then topcoated.
These are pretty over-the-top but I seriously love them. I don't really believe in the "less is more" philosophy when it comes to putting sparkly shit on my nails. MORE IS MORE!
On my right hand I used a coat of Shimmer Polish Jenny, which is a beautiful mix of all sizes of purple, blue, and gold glitter. I love how complex this one is, and I love how the light color base makes the glitter really pop! The formula was perfection as is typical of all my Shimmers - this coverage is one easy coat, no dabbing or anything.
That's all for today! What do you guys think of the rhinestone party on my nails?
Don't forget to check out the other ladies' day 1 blingy manis!
